Suzuki, Yoshiharu

A first day cover (FDC) featuring both stamps released for the 100th anniversary of the publication of "Anne of Green Gables" in a wax paper envelope. The stamp featuring Anne was illustrated by Ben Stahl and the one featuring Green Gables was illustrated by Christopher Kovacs. Stahl had also been commissioned to create 36 paintings for all of the covers and short stories by L.M. Montgomery. This was a joint issue with Japan. In addition to the brief English and French biography it has also been provided in Japanese. The illustration of Anne on the front of the FDC is also by Stahl and the one on the back is illustrated by Yoshiharu Suzuki.
